Tour Itinerary


Day 1 Ulaanbaatar city tour

On arrival, you are welcomed by a representative from Enjoy Mongolia Travel and are transferred to your hotel. City sightseeing tour including a visit Central square, where all central departments including Government house and Chinggis khaan’s statue situated on. The next things to see will be Mongolian National Museum (or please choose from the other museums). Visit to the Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2 Baga Gazriin Chuluu Stones
Depart Ulaanbaatar early towards South Gobi. The Mongolian Gobi is a vast zone of desert and desert steppe covering almost 30% of the Mongolian territory. The Gobi is often imagined as a lifeless desert, but in reality is a land of steppes that serve as a viable habitat to humans and wildlife alike. The Mongolian Government established the Great Gobi Strictly Protected Area in 1975. In 1991 the United Nations designated the Great Gobi as the fourth largest Biosphere Reserve in the world. The Gobi was originally an ancient inland sea basin. Later it became home to many species of dinosaurs, and today is reservoir of fossilized dinosaur bones and eggs.
 
This day we’ll drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu mountain passing beautiful mountain Zorgol khairkhan. There is granite rock formation in the middle of the dusty plains. Overnight in tents.


Day 3 Bayanzag “Flamming cliffs”
Drive to Bayanzag. The name means “Rich in saxual shrubs” and that is more commonly known as the “Flamming cliffs”, penned by the paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews who first excavated in 1922 and it’s renowned worldwide for the number of dinosaur bones and eggs found in the area, which you can see in the Natural History Museum in Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in tents. Ger camps are also available.


Day 4 Canyon of Eagle’s Mouth 
Drive to Yoliin Am (Eagle canyon). This is very interesting and beautiful place where have huge rocky mountains and high canyon with ice frozen areas even in hot summer. There are wild animals such as Ibex, wild sheep, but it is difficult to see. There is a small natural history museum. Overnight here in tents. This day, you will have time to have hiking.


Day 5 Khongor sand dunes
Today we will drive to Khongor sand dunes. Khongor is the largest and the most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. They are up to 800 m high, 12 km wide and 100km long. You can climb up to the top of the dunes and sliding down. The views of the desert from the top are wonderful. Camel riding is available here. Overnight in tents or ger camp.


Day 6 Trekking on Khongor sand dunes 
Today we will stay at the Sand Dunes. We’ll have camel riding along the Sand Dunes. Overnight in tents or ger camp.


Day 7 Ongi Monastery
Drive through beautiful green steppe and reach Ongi monastery. This small mountainous area along the river, the Ongiin gol, in the western soum (town) of Saikhan Ovoo, makes a good resting place to have a break between the South Gobi and to the north or the west. The bend in the river marks the remains of 2 ruined monasteries, the Barlim monastery on the north bank, the Khutagt monastery on the south. Together the complex is known as the Ongi monastery. Exploring the ruins of the monasteries. Overnight in tents.


Day 8 kharakhorum- Mongolia’s ancient capital
Drive to Mongolia’s ancient capital, Kharakhorum. Now kharakhorum city ruin is located on the right bank of Orkhon river in Kharakhorum soum of Uvurkhangai province. Foundation of the city was laid by Chinggis khan and construction done during the period of Ugudei Khan. It was at the crossroads of the Silk Route. It was from there that the Mongolia Empire was governed, until Kublai khan moved it to Beijing. Overnight in Ger camp at the bank of Orkhon river.


Day 9 Erdenezuu Monastery and Taihar Rock
Visit to Erdene Zuu monastery, the symbolic ruins of Karakorum. There are also many other historical places. Drive further to Tsetserleg town and visit to Zaya gegeen monastery or local museum. There is a beautiful mountain Bulgan. Go further passing the mountain and camp in Tamir River valley. Camping. 


Day 10 Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park
Drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National Park. On the way we will see Chuluut River Canyon. Camping on the shore of Tsagaan lake. Explore the area. Overnight here.


Day 11 Horse riding 
Horse riding along the shore of Tsagaan lake. We visit to Khorgo extinct volcano. Overnight here.


Day 12 Ugii Lake
Drive to Ugii Lake. Today is a long drive day. We will camp around Ugii Lake which is a beautiful lake with many kinds of bird. Overnight here.


Day 13 Hiking to Turtle Rock
Drive and visit to Hustai Range. See wild horses. Overnight here.

 
Day 14 Drive to Ulaanbaatar
