Naadam Festival is held every summer from 11 to 13 of July in Mongolia. It is a traditional display of Mongolian courage, strength, dexterity and marksmanship.
Mongolia Overland with Naadam Festival

10 July Ulaanbaatar city tour
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. On arrival, you are welcomed by Enjoy Mongolia’s representative and are transferred to your hotel. City sightseeing tour including a visit Central square, where all central departments including Government house and Chinggis khaan’s statue situated on. Today is the National Flag Day and there will be soldiers parade and other perpormance in the morning. 11 July Opening ceremony of Naadam Festival
Opening ceremony of Naadam festival. Archery, Horse race, Wrestling.
12 July Baga Gazar Stones and Mandalgobi city
The tour will start early from Ulaanbaatar city. On the way pass Zorgolkhairkhan mountain. Then we will drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu (Small land stone) stones. There are small cave, spring and interesting natural formation. We will drive to Mandalgobi town and stop at small hotel. Overnight in the hotel.
13 July Canyon of the Eagle’s Mouth
Continue tour to the Dalanzadgad city. We will introduce Dalanzadgad city and visit to local museum. Drive to the Canyon of the Eagle’s Mouth. Overnight in tents.
14 July Bayanzag (Flaming Cliff)
Driving through the Gobi Desert and visit to Bayanzag. Drive further to Saikhan Ovoo soum. There is a Buddhist monastery Ongi. Overnight in tents.
15 July To Kharakhorum city
Onward travel to Kharakhorum city-ancient capital city of Mongolia. Visit Shanh Hiid Monastery. Arrive at the ger camp. Overnight in the camp.
16 July Erdenezuu Monastery
Free day in Kharakhorum. Visit to the Erdenezuu Monastery – the first and biggest Buddhist center built in the 13th century. There are many other historical exhibitions in this village.
17 July Zayan Gegeenii Huree Monastery
Early morning Continue for Tsetserleg (means “beautiful flower garden”), ventral town of Arkhangai province, surrounded by natural beauty and spectacular scenery of mountains, cliffs, rapid rivers and quiet lakes. Visit to Zayan Gegeenii Huree Monastery built in the 16th century. It is a local museum too. We will camp on the bank of Tamir River. Overnight in tents.
18 July Khorgo dormant volcano crater
We move towards Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. Drive up to the Horgo Uul, a dormant volcano crater, to witness amazing formations of lava rocks. The world’s only basalt ger to be pictured. Stay in ger camp at the lake shore of Terkhiin Tsagaan.
19 July Horse riding
Free day. Horse riding around the lake. Visit to the Yellow dog’s cave. Explore the Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake National Park. Overnight in the camp.
20 July Tsenkher hot spa
Today we will drive for 200 km and camp around the Tsenkher hot spa or little further in wilderness area. Overnight in tents.
21 July Ogii Lake and Khustai National Park with wild horses
Ogii lake, that is a wonderful place for birdlife-cranes and ducks, to name just a few species, migrate to the area around late April. On to Khustai Range national park where prezivalski horses are. Overnight here is good for see the wild horses.
22 July Back to Ulaanbaatar. Overnight in a hotel
